Brief Description

The Splash ‘N Dash is a short course aquathon featuring a 300m swim and a 5K run. The race provides beginners with a fun introduction to multisport and veterans with a great way to test their fitness and racing skills. Kids may participate in their own Splash ‘N Dash – a 50m swim and 1 mile run. Athletes and spectators alike will enjoy the scenic and friendly atmosphere of our venue – the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park in Silver Spring, MD.

Splash ‘N Dash Course Details

Swim: 300 m – 6 lengths of a 50 meter pool. Athletes will “snake-swim” – traversing six lanes – to complete the distance.

Transition: A transition area will be provided for athletes to store their race gear and towel. While the area will be closed to the public and will be monitored by volunteers, please do not leave valuables unattended in transition. Event management cannot guarantee the safety of your personal belongings.

Run: Scenic 5K run through MLK park and Paint Branch Trail

Kid’s Race Course Details

Kid’s Swim: 50 m – 1 length of the 50 meter pool.

Kid’s Run: A one mile run around the MLK Jr. Park Perimeter Trail

Note: Event director reserves the right to change the course due to safety concerns on the morning of the event. A modified course will be the first option unless severe conditions force event cancellation.

Directions

The Splash ‘N Dash will be held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. outdoor pool located at 1201 Jackson Road, Silver Spring, MD. Parking is available in the park at no charge. From I-495, take exit 28A (MD-650 N/New Hampshire Ave) toward White Oak. After 3 miles, turn right at Jackson Road. The pool facility is approximately ½ mile on the right.
